As far as we know, no other compilation series thematically dedicated to Turkey made up to its fourth edition in the market. With the success and impetus of the former three albums on Turkey, DJ Gülbahar Kültür is here with her fourth essential album: Made in Turkey Vol.4 released through Lolas World Records label, known chiefly for its compilation albums upon music of the world's cultures. It is an uplifting album of fresh great hits from the Turkish music scenery. Turkish select artists with melodious and ardent songs, not only well known in Turkey but also of international fame are brought together perfectly well in the double CD compilation album.
The influential Turkish diva Sezen Aksu; Sertab Erener, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003; Ajda Pekkan, the superstar of Turkish pop music; Funda Arar, the winner of many awards in Turkey; young girls heroes such as Teoman, Feridun Düzağaç, Kenan Doğulu and Kıraç as well as Yeni Türkü that is one of the best selling bands in the country featuring an insightful and broad range of Turkish and Mediterranean melodies, take their place in the album with exceptional songs.
Further, we have Emre Aydın, the winner of Europe's Favourite Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008; the world famous clarinet virtuoso Hüsnü Şenlendirici, and some exciting newcomers like Gazi Peker better known as DJ Gazi, the winner of Danish World Awards 2008, whose winning song is featured in the album; Azize, who reaches her growing number of audience over the internet as an independent soul and achieving success without getting involved in the music industry; J@n with his title taking place in the soundtrack of the feature film Evet Ich will to be screened in March 2009 in Germany; Ertuğ with his silky voice; Cem Adrian particularly acclaimed for his voice of 4.5 octaves and Tolga Çandar the indispensable voice of the Aegean folk songs.
Collectives such as Çamur and Hariçten Gazelciler, who will definitely put their marks in the music world with interesting works; a rare-to-find group in Turkey, the a capella group Vokaliz, and the thriving band of the recent years such as Pinhani, contribute to the album with catchy songs.
One of the most captivating works of art in the album is a great fusion by Mehmet C. Yeşilçay and Kani Karaca, the great master of religious music in Turkey. The song Masiva included in Made in Turkey Vol.4 is not created with the sample work of the deceased master Karaca. It is an original recording done together with Mehmet C. Yeşilçay; and it is Kani Karacas one and only permission for his voice to be used in a modern work such as this one.
One big surprise of the album is the title Bir Kerecik, where DJ Gülbahar Kültür, the compiler of this album, hails us also as a performer and lyric author. Previously unreleased and deeply moving, beautiful song Bir Kerecik is a collaboration of Gülbahar Kültür and Volkan Gücer, who is one of Turkeys most illustrious musicians.
In this album, Gülbahar Kültür primarily collects a roster of artists young and talented with many tracks of the Rock genre. This is due to the fact that the recent years have witnessed extremely successful cover works in Turkey. Just like in other parts of the world, Turkey is overwhelmed with back-to-the-roots trend; forgotten songs are reanimated with beautiful rock covers of many groups and artists. Made in Turkey Vol.4 features some of the best examples of these works like the ones belonging to Gripin, Gece Yolcuları and Mizan.
The first CD titled Café Golden Horn, carrying soft and introspective qualities is perfect for a relaxed lounging and the second CD Club Shinanay is definitely irresistible to dance. Turkey is a favoured destination for holidays and Made in Turkey Vol.4 is a favourite destination for holiday dreams.
